Before and After School Funding Sources
Proposition 49, the After School Education and Safety Program Act of 2002, was passed into law in November 2002. It substantially increased the funding for before and after school programs. All elementary and middle/junior high schools, including charter schools, are eligible for after school grants using permanently earmarked general fund money provided through this proposition.
