Counselor Information & Registration

Tulare County Office of Education will host the eighth annual College Offers Opportunities for Life (COOL) Night. This event will provide students, grades six through eight, an opportunity to learn about high school, college, and careers. Last year, over 1,000 students and parents from throughout Tulare County attended the COOL Night event. This year's expected attendance of up to 3,000 will participate in various parent and student presentations. The parent component will incorporate the "College: Making It Happen" curriculum used in past middle school college preparation events.

A very important component to this event will be the participation of the counseling staff from each high school in Tulare County. Each high school in the county is being invited to participate in this event. School sites should send one or two people to this event to staff a counselor table in the Opportunity Fair.

Counselor Guidelines

Each school site is asked to bring the following information to share with parents and students to assist them in planning for high school:
  • High school course schedule
  • Information on athletics at the school site
  • Information on extra-curricular activities at the school site (student government, agricultural, business, etc.)
  • High school graduation information, including information on the California High School Exit Exam
  • Other information pertinent to a student entering high school
