Sandy Carl serves the Tulare County Office of Education as an Instructional Consultant in Mathematics. Prior to joining the TCOE staff, Sandy spent 25 years in the classroom throughout several school campuses. She served as an elementary teacher and math mentor for 6 years, followed by 7th/8th grade math/algebra teacher at middle school and then 15 years as a high school math teacher. Sandy also worked as the Math Coach at the high school level. She worked in an Independent Study High School Program for four years. She also worked with students in the college setting as an Independent Study Teacher. Sandy received her Bachelors Degree at Illinois State University in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois where she was born and raised. Sandy received her Masters Degree in Math Education at Fresno Pacific University.
Sandy's responsibilities include assisting teachers, schools, and districts in keeping informed of current issues in mathematics education, including California Mathematics Standards, California High School Exit Exam in Mathematics and California Standards Testing in Mathematics. She provides math coaching to teachers and administrators in the area of mathematics standards, assessments, instruction and use of data and technology. In addition, Sandy has worked with Alternative Governance Boards and prepares teachers for upcoming visits.
