Region VII After School Programs Lead

As an educator with 20 years in education, Diane has served in numerous capacities from classroom teacher to administrator overseeing categorical programs. With the massive cutbacks in education during the economic downturn, her position was eliminated on the California Central Coast. As a result, she accepted the position of Regional Director with the Tulare County Office of Education for Region VII After School Programs. New to the area during the 2009/10 school year, Diane moved from San Luis Obispo County to Visalia in Tulare County.

As Regional Lead for After School Programs, Diane provides technical assistance to 449 elementary, middle and high school sites with after school programs in Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, and Tulare Counties. After school programs provide the needed time and opportunity to students and to schools, helping students close the achievement gap and raising student achievement. Region 7 research data mirrors the benefits of after school programs statewide and nationally. The advantages of after school programs are obvious yet exciting! Students who regularly participate in after school programs improve school day attendance, academic scores and school day participation.
