Jenean Bray

Staff Development & Curriculum Specialist

Jenean Bray Impassioned by creativity and curiosity, Jenean finds inspiration from the arts, literature, and writing. Weaving elements of visual art into curriculum development, she motivated middle school and high school students for over 18 years. While teaching English Language Arts, Jenean researched and continually gathered the best strategies and methods for engaging both the reluctant and gifted learner. Her approachable way of supporting others to grow academically has been recognized by many. She was acknowledged for her Outstanding Contributions to Literacy by the American Literacy Corporation, selected as Kingsburg’s Educator of the Year, and as Finalist Teacher of the Year for Fresno County. In 2008, Jenean served on the California Department of Education’s English and Language Arts Instructional Materials Adoption Committee in Sacramento. In 2009, she collaborated with the San Francisco Symphony’s Keeping Score Education Program offering teachers at all levels the opportunity to learn in a summer institute how to connect classical music to the core curriculum. In 2014, Jenean became a fellow of the San Joaquin Valley Writing Project where she focused on and presented professional development workshops for teachers of all levels to design creative writing opportunities, often highlighting poetry. In 2015, she became an Academic Coach in the Kingsburg School District where her responsibilities included demonstrating ways for teachers to infuse technology into all content areas. In this role, she also served as a BTSA Support Provider and mentor to new teachers as well as coached the more experienced teachers in ways to facilitate collaborative opportunities where students drive the learning and teachers confer with writers and readers. Fueled by her desire to be a continuous learner and see outside the box, Jenean stays current with the latest thoughts on ELA and ELD curriculum design and strategies. In 2017, she stepped over to TCOE and began a journey of serving teachers and administrators throughout Tulare County. This has led her to presenting at various workshops and conferences, such as the California Association Teachers of English Conference in Yosemite and Best Results Conference in Fresno. Continually, Jenean strives to bring out the best in people while focusing on supporting teachers of all levels to collaborate in meaningful and creative ways that strengthen the knowledge, confidence, and skills of students.
