Kathy Johnston named School Health Manager
As manager, Ms. Johnston oversees a staff of eight school nurses who provide health services to many of Tulare County's small, rural school districts and the SCICON outdoor education program. In addition to the nursing staff, the School Health Programs is home to the Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) Prevention Program, which provides a child safety education curriculum to first-and fifth-grade students throughout the county. Additionally, the program's Family Service Workers act as liaisons between home, school, and the community to access services such as housing, food, and other community resources. School Health Programs also includes Network for a Healthy California, which provides nutrition education services to eight Tulare County school districts and the TCOE Special Services classrooms. Prior to joining the School Health Programs, Ms. Johnston worked as an emergency department nurse manager and critical care supervisor in an acute hospital setting. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and a School Nurse Services credential. Visit the School Health pages for more information. |
