- In a partnership between the Tulare County Office of Education and the College of the Sequoias, and seeking to serve students of lower socioeconomic status who may come from families lacking a history of college attendance, English-learning students, and students dedicated to college success, community service and leadership, University Preparatory High School (UPHS) is an "Early College" program that will be located on the campus of the College of the Sequoias. Reasons to consider employment with us:
- UPHS is a school where college readiness is prepared for, the heart is nourished, and service to others and the community is highly valued. Because we seek to build a highly collaborative program in which goals and vision are shared and developed as part of a school wide culture:
- Input from teachers and non-certificated staff is sought and highly valued.
- Teachers at UPHS will participate in a professional setting that encourages teamwork and collaboration, and that provides timely and relevant professional development based on teacher needs and priorities.
- Teachers will play a vital role in curriculum design and implementation.
- Teachers will have multiple opportunities to integrate California Curriculum Content Standards and classroom curriculum with youth development, service-learning, and community-service projects
- As a collaborative effort between TCOE, COS, and community partners, UPHS is a school that will benefit from the support of many community stakeholders. With an anticipated student population of 125 students in fall of 2009, UPHS offers an opportunity for teachers to:
- Work in a smaller setting and work with peers to develop a highly effective curriculum that supports both academic and social success for students
