2010 Essay Contest Results

2010 Essay Contest Results The annual essay contest, open to 4th- and 5th-grade students, was designed to develop participant's knowledge and understanding of the wide variety of fruits and vegetables that are available to us in the Central Valley. Essays written were between 300 and 500 words and answered the question, "Why Eat Harvest of the Month Fruits and Vegetables?" The top four essays were chosen and the winners received certificates and gift cards for a great family adventure.

The four winners of the essay contest were:
  • 1st Place - Janelle Montejano
    5th Grade, Monson-Sultana Jt. Un. Elementary School, Sultana
    Teacher: Janice Rush
    Prize: Award certificate, $50 gift certificate to Visalia Adventure Park

    5th Grade, Alta Vista Elementary School, Porterville

    Prize: Award certificate, $20 gift certificate to Visalia Adventure Park

The Network's goal is to promote healthier lifestyles for Tulare County families by eating more fruits and vegetables and increasing physical activity. Visalia Adventure Park is seven acres of food, fun, and excitement for the whole family. The Adventure Park is the Central Valley's Premier Family Entertainment Center. There is no admission to the park, the attractions are Pay As You Play. Winners can fill their Need-4-Speed racing 45 mph at Full Throttle Raceway. The park has something for everybody: 18 hole Miniature Golf Course, Hwy 66 Bowling, 900' Family Go-Kart Track, Lazer Tag, Bumper Boats, Batting Cages, and an assortment of Video And Redemption Arcade Games. Visalia Adventure Park is at Highway 198 and Akers St., 5600 W. Cypress Avenue in Visalia.
