Harvest of the Month

Harvest of the Month The goal of the Harvest of the Month program is to increase enjoyment and consumption of fruits and vegetables. Students have the opportunity to taste and explore a different featured fruit or vegetable each month. This in-classroom taste-testing gives students the chance to try healthy foods and learn about locally grown produce. Students are shown that fruits and vegetables come in a rainbow of colors. Students and teachers are encouraged to eat colorful fruits and vegetables everyday for better health.

The Tulare County Office of Education Network for a Healthy California program would like to partner with Central Valley farmers to provide the fruits and vegetables listed in the table below. Our program will be taste-testing these items with our K-12 students in the classroom. We sample the fruits and vegetables with approximately 2500 students each month. Typically, the fruit is only sampled in a bite-sized piece, not the entire fruit/vegetable. Our program would be willing to pick up the produce at the beginning of each month. Donations are greatly appreciated.
