1957 Pilot SCICON Program developed
1958 Pilot SCICON Program begins at Camp Tulequoia (600 students attend)
Clemmie Gill deeds 35 acres to SCICON
1959 SCICON gains additional 5 acres
1960 All-weather access road constructed at SCICON
1962 Construction begins on student cabins (Tulare, Ivanhoe, Woodlake, Earlimart, Burton, Winterhaven, Dinuba, Orosi, Visalia and Pixley cabins)
Construction begins on John Muir Lodge
1963 U.S. Government deeds 30 acres adjacent to SCICON in trade for 160 acres near Cherry Gap
Water system started
1965 John Muir Lodge completed
First day of school at the Clemmie Gill site (April 19th)
1966 Exeter House completed
1967 SCICON's first observatory installed on Observatory Hill
1968 Serendipity House constructed
1970 Shower and Restroom Facility in Girls Village completed
1973 Porterville Learning Center constructed
ACRES FOR SCICON drive begins
1974 Lindsay Cabin constructed
1975 ACRES FOR SCICON drive successfully concluded; 1,000 acres added to SCICON campus
Water well drilled
1976 Deck added to John Muir Lodge
1978 Navy Seabees build SCICON's Fire Station
1979 Phyllis Wall Memorial Library-Museum constructed
Delano Cabin finished
1981 Handicabin constructed by Building Industry Association
1982 Planetarium and Library annex added to the Phyllis Wall Library-Museum
1983 Lyle Christman Observatory installed on Listening Hill
Shower and Restroom Facility completed in Boys Village
1984 Harris Arbor built in picnic area
Barton Living Tree Amphitheater constructed
1986 Charles Rich Intern/Staff House completed
1987 James Conrad Administrative Office Building completed
Navy Seabees build new deck around John Muir Lodge
1992 Health Center constructed by Building Industry Association
1994 Shafter student cabins added
Parking Lot Outdoor Restrooms completed by Navy Seabees
1996 Circle J-Norris Ranch made available as a new SCICON campus
C. Wendall Bayless Visitor Welcome Area completed
1998 Rotary Arbor completed
1999 Soda Springs Bridge built by Navy Seabees
2000 Rasmussen Arbor constructed by Lions International
Ruth Anderson Wildflower Display completed
SCICON begins summer program at Camp Cotyac
2001 John Muir Lodge remodeled and expanded
2002 Student cabins remodeled
New decks built on student cabins
Lodge deck expanded
2006 Special Education Classroom and Cabin (Valley Oak) constructed
2007 Eagle Point Village constructed
Eagle Point Village program begins
2008 SCICON celebrates 50-year anniversary
2011 Upper Restroom/Shower Building in Girl's Village constructed
2012 Special Education Classroom (Blue Oak) constructed in Eagle Point Village
2013 Phyllis Wall Museum has new exhibit room constructed
2014 Walkway of donor bricks organized by Friends of SCICON
2017 Bear Cub Den
2021 Lodge deck covering installed with picnic tables donated by Tulare County Rotary Clubs
