Tree Nursery

The Tree Nursery has been started with the generous donations of many individuals and businesses. Wal-Mart (Visalia) and Lagomarsino Farming (Tulare) donated hand tools for the students to use. Hydra-Tech (Delano) and the Bream Family have supplied all the irrigation parts. L.E. Cooke Nursery (Visalia) donated 50 young apple trees. Most recently a tree seedling house was built to protect the young seedlings from hungry rodents (mice, squirrels, etc.) The tree seedling house was built with donations from the Society of American Foresters and labor provided by the Springville Mountain Lions.

The exciting thing about the Tree Nursery is that all work has been done by sixth-grade students. Students have installed the irrigation system, planted the trees, built compost bins and worm boxes and taken care of all of these on a daily basis. Tree Nursery founder, Tom Fischer, is pictured here with one of the apple trees planted in 1997.
