Katherine

Katherine On September 28, 2012, after 11 years of staying home and not being able to work due to her disability, Katherine decided to meet with A Ticket to Success. She learned that day about work incentives, such as Trial Work Period, Extended Period of Eligibility and Expedited Reinstatement. Katherine was very happy to discover that she could pursue employment and she would not lose her benefits right away. She also learned that A Ticket to Success would equip her with a professional resume and good job leads that fit her employment goals, and empower her by improving her interviewing skills. She was also told that after she got a job, she would continue to be supported by retention services and benefits planning.

Katherine had many valuable skills. But with the job market in Tulare County being limited in employment opportunities, she knew it could take some time to find a good opportunity. So Katherine decided she would move closer to her place of birth, San Jose, California, where there were more employment opportunities. Katherine was very pleased when she shared the news with her job developer and was told that she could continue to work with A Ticket to Success because it is a National Employment Network.

On March 4, 2013, Katherine secured a great job as an Office Manager for a doctor's office in Morgan Hill, California. Katherine is doing very well and continues to work there today.

When asked what Katherine appreciated about the program, her response was, "By far it was your encouragement that made me keep applying and looking for the right position. It was out of my comfort zone, but I kept remembering you telling me to play up my strengths. The roll play on interviewing was beneficial, as well. It was a long time since I had been on an interview and things had changed a bit.

My employer says I do a great job, am reliable and a quick study. I had to learn a new computer program, and I am feeling confident."
