Health Education and Social Services

Migrant nurses provide supplementary services to help migrant students overcome their physical/social needs and to promote their well-being for effective learning in academics.

Services/activities include:
  • Assessment and referral for treatment of health problems
  • Nurses serve as resources to district and county personnel
  • Coordination of health services with districts and community agencies
  • Dental sealant clinics in collaboration with San Joaquin Valley College
  • HIV education for migrant families in collaboration with community agencies
  • CPR/First Aid training
  • Mentoring projects
  • Dental, vision and hearing screening for migrant students in non-mandated grades, based on referral
  • Health education via home visits, parent meetings and health fairs
