Professional Learning

Educational Resource Services (ERS) offers professional learning (PL) trainings for teachers and administrators throughout the year on important state standards and instructional practices. These PL trainings are offered in all subject matters – the arts, educational technology, English language arts, English language development, history/social studies, library media resources, mathematics, project based learning, and science. Cross-curricular learning is also available in the areas of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), social emotional learning (SEL), and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Additionally, many departments have created communities of practice that convene throughout the school year for educators to connect with fellow teachers on topics related to their respective subjects. Leadership Support Services (LSS) offers regular training sessions and informational meetings for district and school leaders throughout the year focused on the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), state and federal planning requirements, California’s accountability system, and the use of data in improving student achievement. Specific trainings related to required technical assistance are also available to eligible districts and schools. More information

Throughout the year, the Special Services Division offers dozens of trainings for educators and parents of children with special needs. These trainings cover a wide variety of topics, including autism, mental wellness and social emotional learning, suicide awareness, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), crisis prevention/intervention, and instructional practices.
