Information Systems

Information Systems with a RJ45 cable trailing from the S in systemsThe Information Systems Department (IS) offers technology services to the Office of Education and the school districts of Tulare County. Software production and support are provided in the areas of personnel, payroll, employee absences, credentials, budget, financial accounting and reporting, accounts payable and equipment inventory. Internet access is available to the school districts of Tulare County.

The Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) was the lead agency for a consortium of five county offices of education (Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Monterey, and Imperial) that developed a web-based system to implement the new standardized account code structure, authorized by Assembly Bill 438 in 1995. This system replaced the minicomputer-based financial software first developed by the department in 1980. This original financial software was used by numerous county offices of education and school districts throughout California. The software, in a modified form, is still being used.

TCOE is the connecting point for the K-12 High Speed Network with a 1-gigabit connection. Over 85% of our school districts connect to TCOE to take advantage of internet connectivity and, therefore, are realizing a cost savings compared to implementing their own connections
