Research Technician Summer Internship

Circle J-Norris Ranch is seeking research technicians to set up research plots for the Long-Term Oak Forest Inventory (LOFI). Circle J will hire up to 16 interns who are interested in furthering our research programs for youth. Tasks will be performed under the direction of Amanda Driver, Lead Teacher. Tulare County Office of Education operates Circle J-Norris Ranch as part of the SCICON program and UC Merced Field Station.

Job Duties:

  • Use GPS coordinates to locate, mark, verify, and label study plots on Circle J-Norris Ranch
  • Hike on and off trails and roads to set up research plots
  • Generate accurate records and troubleshoot problems
  • Use equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Work 5 hours per day for four days (June 8, 9, 10, 11, 2026)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have transportation
  • High school student or Class of 2026 graduate
  • Ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to hike in rugged conditions in hot weather while carrying heavy equipment
